Karen Czarnecki
Executive DirectorKaren Czarnecki is a 25-year veteran of Washington politics and public policy. Prior to her current role as Executive Director of the Charlotte Lozier Institute, she served as vice president of outreach for the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, where she was responsible for all government relations and external affairs activity on the organization’s priority research issues. Karen also served as the director of education at the Law & Economics Center (LEC) at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School where she oversaw executive education for federal and state court judges, state attorneys general and their staff, and a Congressional staff education program on legal reform.
Karen has served as a Congressional chief of staff and an outreach and communications adviser, and has held senior-level positions in the federal government and the non-profit sectors. Previous positions include: director of the Office of the 21st Century Workforce and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Intergovernmental Affairs at the US Department of Labor; director of the Civil Justice and Health and Human Services Task Forces at the American Legislative Exchange Council; and director of executive branch liaison and state relations at The Heritage Foundation.
She has also served in the White House for two administrations. For over a decade, she has taught a public policy seminar as an adjunct professor at George Mason University for The Fund for American Studies. Karen earned her BA and JD from The Catholic University of America.
