Associate Scholar

Thomas Sawyer, Ph.D., M.A., is a scientist and bioethical writer. After graduate school, he started his own business, Goodscience Consulting, which provides scientific research, writing, and communications services to clients. During his doctoral studies within the Molecular and Cellular Biology program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Thomas gained expertise in structural biology and protein X-ray crystallography. He solved the crystal structure of a protein complex that has implications for the study of Fabry disease, a lysosomal storage disorder. Prior to this, he obtained a Master’s in Theology from Ave Maria University, where he studied the works of Saint Thomas Aquinas and Aristotle. Concurrently, he completed the National Catholic Bioethics Center certification program in healthcare ethics. Thomas has written academic theses integrating scientific and metaphysical principles that defend the human being at both the beginning and the end of life against the threats of abortion and euthanasia. He has several years of internship experience in the pharmaceutical industry in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Thomas enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.
