
Mia Steupert, M.A.
Research AssociateMia Steupert serves as Research Associate at the Charlotte Lozier Institute, where she conducts and edits research on a variety of topics related to science and statistics for life.
Prior to joining CLI, Mia was a research intern at a conservative think tank where she focused on the inner workings of Planned Parenthood and sexuality legislation at the federal and state levels. Mia also interned at the Institute on Religion and Democracy where she wrote articles for their blog on politics and the Catholic Church.
Mia holds an MA in Government with a concentration in law and policy from Regent University and a BA, cum laude with distinction, in Political Science from Emmanuel College. Mia has completed two thesis papers- a graduate thesis on Catholic sexual ethics and an undergraduate thesis on the American nuclear family and government policy.
In her free time, Mia likes to read and write about Catholic theology, play softball and golf, spend time with her family and watch sports.

In 2021, there were 32,454 abortions reported in North Carolina, an increase of 8.2 percent from 2020.
Abortion Reporting: Connecticut (2021)
There were 10,146 abortions reported in Connecticut in 2021, up 41 percent from 2020.
Abortion Reporting: New York City (2020)
New York City’s 2020 abortion statistics showed a decline in the number of abortions occurring in New York City from 2019 to 2020, with 37,523 abortions reported in the city in 2020, a decrease of 25 percent from 2019.

Iowa’s 2021 vital statistics report, which includes the state’s abortion statistics, was published online by the Iowa Department of Public Health in April 2023.

In 2020, there were 11,243 abortions reported in Tennessee, an increase of 15.7 percent from the previous year.

In 2020, there were 59,344 abortions reported to have been performed in New York on state residents, down 20 percent from the previous year.

Abortion Reporting: Massachusetts (2020)
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health provided Massachusetts’ 2020 abortion statistics to the Charlotte Lozier Institute upon request. Abortions in the Bay State decreased from the previous year.
Abortion Reporting: Virginia (2020)
Virginia’s 2020 abortion facility statistics were provided to the Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI) upon request and their annual state abortion report is available online. The reports show that abortions increased ever so slightly from 2019.
Abortion Reporting: Utah (2020)
Utah’s 2020 abortion report was published online by the Utah Department of Health in December 2022, showing that abortions decreased in 2020.
