New Video: Child with High Risk Leukemia Recovers after Adult Stem Cell Transplant

Today the Charlotte Lozier Institute released its newest Stem Cell Research Facts video telling the story of 10-year-old Devon Weaver of Arizona. For many years, Devon’s parents and doctors were mystified as to why he struggled with everyday activities such as sitting up by himself and feeding himself, and why at four years old his bone density was that of a two-year-old. Finally, when Devon was eight, he was diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML) – a high-risk leukemia with a slim survival rate of 5 to 10 percent in children.

Assisted Suicide at the Polls: Risks & Rewards Associated with Voting to Legalize Assisted Suicide vs. Maintaining the Status Quo

By Jacqueline H. Abernathy, Ph.D. This academic paper analyzes the significance of a legislator’s position in favor of assisted suicide.  In particular, the paper looks at the risk associated with support for legalization of assisted suicide on subsequent re-election.  This original work comes from the Department of Social Sciences at Tarleton State University, written by Dr. Jacqueline C. Harvey, a political science faculty member. This version of the paper is a conference abstract that was presented at the 2016 Southern Political Science Association Conference.  The full version of the paper will be published in an appropriate academic journal at a later date.
