Ahead of Today’s Virtual March for Life: Understanding the Impact of Pregnancy Centers 48 Years After Roe
Washington, D.C. – Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) and its research arm, Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI) released a new video highlighting the extraordinary medical, education, support, and material service contributions of pro-life pregnancy centers across the United States as published in CLI’s report “Pregnancy Centers Stand the Test of Time,” the second in “A Legacy of Life and Love” report series.
The robust study of approximately 2,700 U.S. pregnancy centers (affiliated with national networks and/or smaller parent organizations) found that these centers provided vital services to almost two million people in 2019, at an estimated value of nearly $270 million. Services are typically provided at virtually no charge.
“America’s pregnancy centers are at the heart of the pro-life movement, offering a crucial lifeline directly to women and families facing unexpected pregnancies. They exemplify this year’s March for Life theme of strength in unity, and with every person served and child saved, they prove life is winning,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “An overwhelming majority of Americans, whether they view themselves as ‘pro-life’ or ‘pro-choice,’ consider pregnancy centers a valuable community resource – yet they are constantly under attack from the profit-driven abortion industry and its allies, precisely because they provide alternatives to abortion. We will always defend their right to carry out their compassionate mission as we work to protect unborn children in the law and make abortion unthinkable.”
CLI President Chuck Donovan added, “Pregnancy centers exist to serve and support mothers in the courageous decision to give their children life, even under the most difficult circumstances. Each year they provide a multitude of free services, including excellent medical care, for millions of women and men. Eight in 10 people involved at pregnancy centers are volunteers, an extraordinary example of igniting points of light in the darkness. Their selflessness deserves to be affirmed and celebrated.”
