Abortion Reporting: New York City (2019)

New York City released 2018 and 2019 abortion statistics in quick succession, showing that abortions declined in 2018 and held steady in 2019, with 49,784 abortions reported in the city in 2019. 2019 marked the first year in the decade that reported abortions did not decline.

Abortion Reporting: Iowa (2020)

There were 4,058 abortions reported in Iowa in 2020, up 14 percent from 2019. Chemical abortions jumped by 34 percent, making up 79 percent of the total in 2020, up from 67 percent in 2019.

Abortion Reporting: North Carolina (2020)

In 2020, there were 30,004 abortions reported in North Carolina, an increase of five percent from 2019. There were 25,058 abortions on North Carolina residents, up seven percent from the previous year.

Overview of U.S. Pro-Life Bills & Provisions Advanced in the States from January to April 2022: Preparing for the Impact of the Supreme Court’s Decision on Abortion Laws

As of April 21, 2022, 42 states have introduced a total of 417 pro-life bills (or bills containing at least one pro-life provision) in 2022 or the current legislative session. This includes 273 bills introduced in 2022, and 144 bills introduced in 2020-2021 for the current legislative session. These bills contain a total of more than 600 pro-life provisions.

Abortion Reporting: Nevada (2019)

Nevada’s 2019 abortion statistics were provided to the Charlotte Lozier Institute by the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services upon request. This most recent report shows that total abortions declined from the previous year, although chemical abortions went up.

Abortion Reporting: New Mexico (2019)

New Mexico’s 2019 vital statistics report, which includes the state’s abortion statistics, was published in September 2021. The report indicates that abortions declined from the previous year.
