As efforts to defund Planned Parenthood and other big abortion chains make their way through the courts, an increasing number of Planned Parenthood centers are closing. While big abortion advocates argue these closures will be devastating to healthcare access for low-income individuals, Medicaid providers around the country are available to stand in the gap. The Charlotte Lozier Institute has compiled a list of state Medicaid provider directories as a resource for people interested in finding providers in their area.
States vary in how their Medicaid plans are structured, and the type of Medicaid coverage an individual receives depends on one’s needs, eligibility, and the specific program qualifications. For some enrollees, state Medicaid reimburses their providers directly (fee-for-service); others are enrolled in insurance plans that receive a set fee for each person participating in the plan (managed care). This table provides a link to relevant directories in each state as well as important context regarding the information available in each directory. The listings are not necessarily comprehensive. States may not provide directories for each plan, directories may change, or directories may not be publicly accessible.
