
Mia Steupert, M.A.
Research AssociateMia Steupert serves as Research Associate at the Charlotte Lozier Institute, where she focuses on conducting research on abortion statistics at the national and state levels and how changing legislative environments in the states impact abortion provision and data.
Prior to joining CLI, Mia was a research intern at a conservative think tank where she focused on the inner workings of Planned Parenthood and sexuality legislation at the federal and state levels. Mia also interned at the Institute on Religion and Democracy where she wrote articles for their blog on politics and the Catholic Church.
Mia holds an MA in Government with a concentration in law and policy from Regent University with honors and a BA, cum laude with distinction, in Political Science from Emmanuel College. Mia has completed two thesis papers- a graduate thesis on Catholic sexual ethics and an undergraduate thesis on the American nuclear family and government policy and is a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha and Kappa Gamma Pi honor societies.
In her free time, Mia likes to play softball and golf, read and write about Catholic theology, cook, and be with friends and family.

Abortion Reporting: South Carolina (2021)
South Carolina’s 2021 abortion report was published in June 2022. The report revealed that abortion increased in 2021 from 2020.
Abortion Reporting: Oregon (2021)
Oregon’s abortion statistics for 2021 were published in October 2022 on the state’s Induced Abortion Dashboard run by the Oregon Health Authority’s Center for Health Statistics. During 2021, reported abortions in the state increased from 2020.
Abortion Reporting: Alabama (2021)
Alabama’s 2021 abortion report was published online by the Alabama Department of Public Health in October 2022, showing that abortions reported in Alabama increased from 2020.
Abortion Reporting: Idaho (2021)
Idaho’s 2021 abortion report was published by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare in September 2022. The report shows that abortions decreased from the previous year.
Abortion Reporting: Kentucky (2021)
Kentucky’s 2021 abortion report was published by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Human Services in October 2022. There were 4,441 abortions reported in Kentucky in 2021, an 8.2 percent increase from the previous year.

Ohio’s 2021 abortion report was published in September 2022 by the Ohio State Department of Health. Ohio’s abortions increased from 2020.
Abortion Reporting: Texas (2021)
Texas’ 2021 report was released by Texas Health and Human Services in September 2022, reporting a drop in abortions from 2020.
Abortion Reporting: Missouri (2020)
From 1,471 abortions in 2019 to 167 in 2020, the total number of abortions reported in the Missouri fell by 89 percent, while chemical abortions increased by 47 percent.
Abortion Reporting: North Dakota (2021)
North Dakota published its 2021 abortion report in October 2022. The report shows that the number of abortions in North Dakota slightly decreased from 2020.
Abortion Reporting: Florida (2021)
For this CLI summary, the usage of “gestation” reflects Florida’s definition of gestation in 2021, which is synonymous with post-fertilization age and is different than the definition that is commonly used based on a woman’s reproductive cycle.
