Pregnancy Help in Ohio: States Are Stepping Up

As Planned Parenthood is being defunded of $1.5 million in annual state funds this year, pro-life pregnancy centers are being allocated $7.5 million in Ohio’s state budget. Taken together, these two changes represent a bold stride for protecting unborn lives and supporting women’s well-being at the state level.

Abortion Reporting: Connecticut (2018)

Connecticut’s annual abortion report for 2018 shows that abortions in the state declined from the previous year. Because the abortion report is not published online, the Connecticut Department of Public Health provided it to the Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI) upon request.

Abortion Reporting: Virginia (2016)

In 2016, there were 17,058 abortions reported in Virginia, a drop of nine percent from the 18,663 reported the previous year. Since 2005, Virginia abortions have fallen by 35 percent. There were 4,991 chemical abortions reported in Virginia in 2016, an increase of 240 percent since 2005 but a decline of three percent from 2015.

There were 54,507 Texas abortions in 2016, down 1.4 percent from 2015 and down 30 percent from 2001.

Abortion in the United States 2017: Preliminary Review and a Call for Reform

CLI has analyzed data from 37 states that released abortion reports for 2017 by April 2019, more than a year and a half ahead of the CDC’s established timetable. Together, these 37 state reports allow for an early peek at U.S. abortion trends at the national level and suggest that, among other developments, the decades-long decline in U.S. abortions may be slowing.
