This June, Kansas released its 2022 in-state abortion data. The number of abortions performed on Kansas residents in other states may be updated as additional reports are received by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services published its 2022 abortion statistics in June 2022, showing that abortions had increased from the previous year.

Louisiana’s 2021 abortion report was published by the Louisiana Department of Health in June 2023. The data published on the Department’s website is marked as preliminary, but CLI was able to confirm via email correspondence with Department officials that the data is final. The report shows that abortions slightly decreased from 2020.

West Virginia’s 2022 abortion statistics were published in June 2023 via their Induced Termination of Pregnancy (ITOP) report, showing that abortions in the Mountain State have decreased dramatically since 2021.

Nearly 82,600 abortions were reported in Florida in 2022, an increase of three percent from the previous year.

The Arkansas Department of Health released its annual abortion report in June 2023, showing that both the total number of abortions and chemical abortions specifically significantly declined in 2022.

The first state to publish its full 2022 abortion report online is Oklahoma. Its 2022 report was published on the website of the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) in May 2023. The report shows that abortions decreased significantly.

Study: Abortion in First Pregnancy Linked to Much Higher Use of Mental Health Services

Women whose first pregnancy ends in abortion have much larger increases in mental health treatment compared to those who had a live birth, according to a recent peer-reviewed study of Medicaid claims data from a team of Charlotte Lozier Institute experts. Moreover, these women were less likely to have a prior history of mental health service utilization, suggesting that the abortion contributes to the difference.
