Abortion Reporting: Colorado (2018)

Colorado’s 2018 abortion report shows that abortions in the state increased slightly from 2017. The report was published on the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment website in July 2019.

Abortion Reporting: Nevada (2018)

In 2018, 8,819 abortions were reported in Nevada. This was an increase of 20 percent from 2017, when 7,360 abortions were reported in the state (Fig. 1). There were 8,329 abortions performed on Nevada residents, up 20 percent from 6,936 the previous year. Of these, 2,521 were chemical abortions, an increase of 43 percent from 2017. Thirty percent of the abortions performed on Nevada residents in 2018 were chemical abortions. The Charlotte Lozier Institute estimates that Nevada’s abortion rate increased from 12.6 abortions per 1,000 women of childbearing age in 2017 to 14.8 in 2018, higher than the national average (Fig. 2).

A new analysis of Indiana abortion data conducted by Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI), the research and education arm of Susan B. Anthony List, shows that total abortions and the abortion rate in Indiana increased for the second year in a row, reversing its long-term decline.

New Study: Adult Stem Cells Reverse Progressive MS-like Disease

A new study published in the journal Neurology found that adult stem cells were successful in treating and reversing neuromyelitis optica, a debilitating autoimmune disease similar to multiple sclerosis (MS). This is yet another medical breakthrough for adult stem cells, as opposed to embryonic stem cells, which have no such track record.
