Senior Research AssociateTessa Cox is Senior Research Associate at Charlotte Lozier Institute, where her research focuses on abortion statistics at the state and national levels and the changing landscape of abortion policy, provision, and access in the United States.
Tessa has appeared onĀ CBN NewsĀ andĀ EWTN News NightlyĀ and has testified before Members of Congress on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.Ā Her work has been featured byĀ National Review Online,Ā Newsweek,Ā The Gospel Coalition, Fox News,Ā The Daily Signal, and many other national media outlets.Ā She has contributed to peer-reviewed research on womenās experiences with chemical abortion and the impact of abortion on women enrolled in Medicaid.
Originally from Illinois, Tessa earned a BA in Communications from Thomas Edison State University.Ā Prior to joining CLI, she got her start in pro-life research with the Family Research Council.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health provided Massachusettsā 2020 abortion statistics to the Charlotte Lozier Institute upon request. Abortions in the Bay State decreased from the previous year.
Abortion Reporting: Virginia (2020)
Virginiaās 2020 abortion facility statistics were provided to the Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI) upon request and their annual state abortion report is available online. The reports show that abortions increased ever so slightly from 2019.
Abortion Reporting: Utah (2020)
Utahās 2020 abortion report was published online by the Utah Department of Health in December 2022, showing that abortions decreased in 2020.

Abortion Reporting: Washington (2020)
The state statistics show that there were 16,050 resident abortions performed in Washington in 2020. However, the CDC report shows that there were 16,909 total abortions that occurred in the state in 2020, of which 16,057 were performed on state residents.
Abortion Reporting: Arizona (2021)
In 2021, there were 13,998 abortions reported in Arizona, an increase of 5.5 percent from 2020. Abortions performed on Arizona residents also increased by 5.4 percent, while chemical abortions on state residents increased by 1.5 percent.
