CLI Experts Urge SCOTUS to Catch Up to Science in Mississippi Abortion Case

“Viability as understood in 1973 is a relic – with today’s technology, premature babies are increasingly able to survive at 22 weeks or even earlier with active care. We hope the Court will take this opportunity to catch up to science and reconsider Roe’s arbitrary and unscientific standard for the protection of unborn human life.”

New Peer-Reviewed Study Debunks Myth of Abortion as “Family Planning”

“For decades abortion-supportive academics, including those at the American Public Health Association and the American College of OB-GYNs, have asserted that abortion is necessary for women to plan happy and healthy families. This peer-reviewed research confirms the exact opposite. Policymakers would do well to look at the data and dispense with the old myth that abortion helps women ‘plan parenthood.’ For too long this line has been used to excuse abortion on-demand, through birth, funded by taxpayers. These pro-abortion policies fatten the abortion industry’s bottom line at the expense of vulnerable women and their children.”

Estimating the Period Prevalence of Publicly Funded Abortion to Space Live Births, 1999 to 2014

Although a majority of women who have an abortion report having 1 or more children, there is no published research on the number of abortions which occur between live births, after a first child but before the last. The objectives of this research, therefore, were to estimate the period prevalence of an induced abortion separating live births in a population of Medicaid eligible enrollees and to identify the characteristics of enrollees significantly associated with the use of abortion to enable child spacing.

Abortion Cases in The Higher Federal Courts: Clarification Needed After June Medical

With the confirmation of Justice Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court last October, pro-life advocates are more optimistic that the Court will uphold legal protections for unborn children and their mothers. However, so far this term the Court has not taken any significant action.

CLI Comment: HHS Proposed Rule Fetal Tissue Regulations

The trafficking of aborted baby body parts for research is barbaric. The Trump administration was dedicated to ending this practice and protecting the sanctity of human life. Grave injustices were exposed that exploited unborn children for experimentation, but were not fully remedied.

Only a Minority of Abortions Are for Unwanted Pregnancies, New Study

A major abortion advocacy group has recently found that only 42% of aborting women described their pregnancies as unwanted. Unexpectedly, 38% described their pregnancies as wanted or wanted but mistimed.  The remaining 19% were unsure how to describe the wantedness of their pregnancies, indicating ambivalence or at least some attachment to their pregnancies.  Previous research has indicated that about 20% of abortions are of wanted pregnancies.
